In Productivity

People, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to take a week off, but that’s what happened. My excuse is that I broke my foot. Well, it was just one little bone that only splintered and it barely hurts, so I can’t even whine about it.

But that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. I even have a nice new pair of crutches and a splint and a bunch of bandages to get all tangled up when I take them off so I can TRY to take a shower.

Anyway, as far as blog posts go, my mind just went blank. I tried to do my 2500 words, and even succeeded a couple of times, but there was nothing there worth posting here. I did do a lot of thinking and some reading, though, and I figured out a few things.

One thing I realized was that I need an editorial calendar to tell me what I need to do and when. Because every day, I wake up wondering, “What now?” So I set one up in Google Calendar and I feel so much better!

Here’s the plan:

  • Mondays will be Guest Post Monday. [Want to write a guest post? Let’s talk!]
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays will be my days for new posts. [also Newsletter Thursday — sign up in the upper right corner and get a surprise bonus!]
  • Fridays will be Roundup Friday with links to cool resources.
  • Saturdays will be Recycle-an-Old-Post Day, because recycling is good for the environment.

What about Wednesdays, you ask? Wednesdays will be INTERVIEW DAY! I’ve invited a few bloggers to talk about how they get things done, and plan to have many more. One thing I want to find out is how people manage their time in their online businesses, and also how they deal with Resistance. Lots of questions! So excited.

Oh, and Sunday? Is a day of rest, though not in a religious sense for me. I’m just scheduling in a day of getting away from the computer, out into the sunlight, and replenishing the well, as Julia Cameron advises in The Artist’s Way. [Notice how I’ve cleverly arranged a three-day weekend. Yay!]

Also:

If you are taking part in the 2500 Words Challenge, be sure to check in on either Twitter or Facebook to get writing prompts, post your word count, meet other peeps, get and give encouragement, whine, commiserate, and post a link to a blog post that you’ve written as part of your 2500 words. Just search Facebook or Twitter for the #2500wds hash tag, and you’ll find us.

See you there!

p.s. For my U.S. peeps: Happy 4th.

    Hi LaVonne ๐Ÿ™‚
Glad you're bearing up under the crutches. Your schedule sounds like a great idea. I did something similar with Give A Brick (until I realised that writing for the charity was taking so much time away from actually doing the charity and I scaled it back) and it worked great. I did mine in Google docs using a spreadsheet which worked really well because it allowed me to plot ideas and subject lines.

Anyway, also wanted to say that I've sent you a message. If you'd like a guest post I'd be delighted to oblige.

    Have a lovely day,
    El

Awesome! Guest posts are always welcome here, lol. I'll find your email and get back to you.

Re spreadsheets: I'm finally getting motivated to learn how to use them, thanks to your recommendation and Catherine Caine's. Will definitely try Google Docs out, thanks.
