In Make Customers Love You

Yeah. So here we are at the end of the challenge. At the beginning, it was all rah-rah, excitement, and fun. But right now?

I’m looking back at all the mistakes I made and wishing I had a do-over.

  • I wish I’d gone back to Naomi Dunford’s post that started all this and read it again, once a day — or just printed it out and hung it next to my monitor. Because I forgot some crucial parts and didn’t even notice others until now. *sigh*
  • I wish I’d remembered to get everyone in the challenge onto a mailing list so I could contact you with news and encouragement. And now, with questions about how #customerlove has gone for you. And later, when we do this all over. Seems like you’ve all scattered in the wind, and I’ll never find everybody again.
  • I wish I’d pushed myself out of my comfort zone and gone looking for people who could actually use my services as a voice coach, instead of depending on a lot of nice people who like me and want to support me, to come to my webinar.
  • I wish I’d actually done the challenge instead of deciding that the challenge itself was my challenge. Cheering others on is nice but it’s not getting into the game, taking the knocks, and winning or losing. Cheering is still on the sidelines.

That said, I did push myself to learn how to set up a webinar, and to write and deliver a presentation that people seemed to like. I’m improving on it now and will deliver a hopefully better one this Thursday. [If you’re coming, please remind me to click Record!] There’s even time to find some people who might need help with their voices.

So I do get a do-over.

And what I’m learning about business is that do-overs are what it’s all about:

  • Try something.
  • Make adjustments.
  • Try again.

Simple.

What do you wish you could do differently next time? Tell me in the comments below — because we WILL be doing this again soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Bloody brilliant post LaVonne
(this is not a swear word it is Aussie slang for extra extra reinforced extra…in this case …brilliant)
Could not agree with you more!
We have all learnt so much from this challenge . . . about our selves, our ‘community’, our business ~ if you have one or, if not, about the level of support and encouragement one was willing to undertake. You are spot on. We know what we could do better next time around, and we have the opportunity to do this . . . to now learn and work smarter not harder
Personally I think it’s been ‘bloody brilliant’

I have stood by the sidelines and cheered and supported you all as much as I could, I’ve partaken of some of the delightful offerings by the oh so generous and warm hearted people in the #customerlove challenge.

I hope and believe I have made some ‘new’ friends and continued to honour the ‘older’ ones!!

I have followed up and made changes to my blogs as a result and certainly in the areas of self development!

I have watched many of you take the first tentative steps and some who have dived straight in . . .
I have seen the dwindling numbers and yet believed that behind the scenes all sorts of work was happening.

Surely there can be no sense of failure for anyone involved ???
We are all works in progress and will continue to evolve and develop and that sense of ‘community’ has been inspiring!

A monumental task that will continue to ‘ripple’ and inspire!!

    I salute you all
And LaVonne…… wow girl you bloody well ROCK!!
    Bring it on Babe!!
    Yay! Yay Yay!

(I’m in a feisty mood so sorry about the length again of this comment!!)

the warmest of hugs to you with the deepest of gratitude

I’m still here. Have not scattered. I will be launching, but a few weeks late due to technical delays and personally being overloaded. September is my busiest month. My launch will be in October.

Accomplished lots though! I got my Digital Camera Buying Guide written and published 2 weeks ago and that was part of my goal to build my list before launching. I had 500+ downloads of the guide and added 40 people to my list, and about 60 new Twitter followers, which put me over 200 on each. So that’s good, as growth had stalled on both.

So I launched my second free thing and the paying things are just around the corner. I’m not disappointed in myself or you LaVonne, and I wouldn’t have got this far without you and David. Shit, you got to interview Naomi Dunford! How fun was that!! That interview was really awesome and made me like and respect you both a whole lot more.

So thank you for sticking your neck out and taking a chance on all of us. I hope we can repay you someday some way or another. You kick ass, don’t ever forget that.

So now, go forward with all that experience and get focused back on your own business like never before!! If you want a launch buddy, I’ll check in with you and you can check in with me. And in another 28 days we’ll be both kicking some ass! What do you say?? xo

Oh Marlene, that is so frigging awesome, I don’t know what to say. So proud
and happy for you. And yes, I got to interview NAOMI DUNFORD!

I definitely want a launch buddy! Just hold on while I gather my wits about
me — I’d like to plan it a bit better this time, lol.

Yes, pls to mailing list! I ended up not participating too much this time b/c I came very late to the party, then never really got into the flow.

    Maybe put a sign-up into the e-book???

The good news is I saw that you told Kirsty you will be doing this again! YAY!!!

The other good news is that, while I wasn’t a formal participant this go-round, I did end up participating some by osmosis – making some changes to our blogs, getting some awesome free stuff in the pipeline, and just generally thinking on things in a new way.

Yay, you for doing this! You are blossoming so much – it is very beautiful to see. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ooh, good idea! I’ll be sure to have a link at the end of the book for
people who want to sign up to the mailing list for the next challenge. So
glad you got some stuff in the pipeline and started thinking about things in
      a new way!

I’m still here too! #customerlove completely changed the momentum of my business. I held a live event, started a blog series, and connected with lots of new people. I started to use Facebook and Twitter in a meaningful way and my followers and email sign-ups grew. (I even recorded a video, but couldn’t post it because I hadn’t checked the sound levels. Live and learn!)

I’m planning a launch soon and I know all of this will pay off.

You’re a great inspiration, LaVonne, and I can’t thank you and David for organizing and promoting everything.

OMG, Alison, that is amazing! So impressed and proud of you! I want to set
up a survey of some sort to find out what happened for everybody. Would it
be all right to use your comment in the ebook we’re putting out?

Hon, review, rinse and repeat. Start again in October, do it all over again, but with the lessons you’ve learned.

There is no failure, there is only feedback.

Yes, and now I know from experience, not from reading someone else’s advice. That makes a world of difference!

Gosh, I think you’re being incredibly hard on yourself. I think I came to your blog a couple of months ago, and then re-visited this week and I’m blown away by what you’re doing here and all the strength and confidence that comes through. Great challenge – can’t wait to see where you go from here.

Aww, thank you so much, Alison! I should have made it more clear how much
I’ve learned and grown through the challenge. Hmm… I feel another post
      coming on, lol!

There’s a learning curve for everything, remember?

Just reading through the testimonials here makes me feel so heartened. I am so proud of YOU, of David, and of all of us #customerlove challengers. From my perspective, we have all taken our businesses to the next level, and using the best possible approach: a deepened focus on our right people. This can’t be wrong.

Thank you for rounding us all up and keeping us inspired over the past 29 days. Looking forward to more! ๐Ÿ™‚

Exactly, and that’s what I was trying to convey in the post. Apparently, I
      didn’t make that clear enough.

Thanks for all your help, Abby. That’s another fringe benefit of the
challenge — the wonderful connections we’ve all made. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi LaVonne,
I’ve enjoyed this challenge and I’m still here. Still working on my product, but my blog has benefited from more business-orientated posts and I’ve found some great new websites to follow. All the posts have been great so count me in again next time too.
