In Make Customers Love You

One week left. That’s all we have to get on the stick and create that product we’re supposed to launch on Day 29.

You remembered that part, right? Don’t say you weren’t warned.

Jonathan Wondrusch mentioned to me the other day that he’s noticed a lot of #customerlove challengers seem to be stuck on this point, perhaps afraid to take that final step from Free to Paid.

Is that you? Are you afraid?

If so, I totally understand. Customer Love is convenient for us procrastinators. It gives us permission to put off for another 28 days that Thing we’ve been dreaming and talking about – except now, we’re staring down the barrel of a very public deadline, and it’s tempting to freak out. Or give up.

Feel free to freak out – we all do it – but don’t give up. You’ll be fine. Here’s why:

There’s lots of help available all around you.

Your fellow challengers want you to succeed. They love you. And some of them may need help and encouragement too. Lean on each other. Get together in chats, on Skype, in masterminds and work groups, and talk through the obstacles you’re facing.

So, what ARE your obstacles?

  • I don’t know what to make!
If you haven’t come up with a product idea yet, download Dave Navarro’s free Launch Coach Library and follow the step-by-step instructions in his ebook, How To Start Making Real Money With Your Products In Three Days.
  • I have too many ideas – can’t decide which one to focus on!
Remember that choosing one doesn’t mean you’re rejecting the others. You’re just deciding which one to do FIRST. The others will come later – and will be better for your experience of working on this first one. [In fact, you could plan on creating a new product during each future #customerlove challenge, which I hope to offer every other month or so.]
  • I’m scared of asking for money!
You’re not ASKING, you’re OFFERING value in exchange for value. If you believe that what you’re offering is useful, there’s no reason to believe others won’t agree — and pay for it. Remember, you don’t need everybody to buy, just somebody.
  • I still don’t have a list!
Borrow one. That’s right, borrow one. Go to someone who does have a list of the kind of people who would be just right for your product. [It doesn’t have to be a huge list, btw.] Offer that person an affiliate commission for pitching your product to her list. Or tweet a link to your sales page and ask people to retweet it. Post it on Facebook.
  • A week isn’t enough time!
Sure it is. Make it small, something you know you can do a bang-up job on without killing yourself. And if you need some concentrated work time, join me on Skype for some Stuckbuster Sessions or Melissa Dinwiddie for her Sandbox Sessions. We’re both offering them free for the rest of the month – click the links to read more about how they work.

The important thing is that you take this opportunity to work through your fear and stuckness, and get to the next level of your business. Whether it’s from free to paid or from low price to higher price — whatever — it’s all about the progress.

So let’s make progress together with the week that we have left. Let’s make something awesome for our people.

Have you made your Thing yet? If not, have you decided what it will be? Tell us where you’re stuck in the comments below and we’ll try to help. 🙂

Thanks for this reminder LaVonne! I was stuck too, until I read Dave Navarro’s eBook that you mentioned above. I read it on Saturday, and launched a new product last night. It’s a “mini-product” to be sure, but it’s a big positive step in the right direction. After doing that, I agree that a week is still plenty of time to get it done. Good luck to everyone, and I’m excited to see where the next week takes us!

That is awesome, Christy! Post a link to your mini-product here or better yet, in the new forum — can’t wait to see it!

Er.. I’d forgotten this bit. In my defence I wasn’t taking part for that, but simply to be useful to others – what a great cop-out, eh??

You’re not gonna let me off with it are you?

Well done Christy! Perhaps in the spirit of #CustomerLove I can share in your success and avoid my own?

No, that’s not gonna fly either is it?

Did I mention I have a Royal Wedding to organise? Yes, of course I’m scraping the barrel!! I’m running out of excuses…

    Help!

Lol, did you get any help, Ryah? I think I saw you and Jonathan Wondrusch conspiring after you posted this comment. Hope it did the trick!

I’m on the way on this – with two things actually 🙂 The first thing, which will be a paid one, is going to take longer to do well so it won’t be ready by the end of the month.

But, I do have another thing – “paid” in the sense of being a list building thing – that’s ready now-ish.

For anyone looking for a sneak peak, pop on over to my web site and catch the links for the “Business Terms Email Course” where I’ll translate the foreign language of bankers and accountants.

Great idea, Monette — with any luck (and some hard work), we’re all gonna need your course to help us manage all the money we’re gonna make. 🙂

Looking forward to seeing your paid thing, too.

Thanks for a great post, LaVonne. Especially loved your very clear explanation of why the usual obstacles are not the enormous mountains we like to think they are…

(Thanks for mentioning my Sandbox Sessions too! :))

Off to edit audio recordings for my Thriving Artists Project! (BTW, I’m only offering the pre-launch version to peeps on the list, so if you’re interested, sign up now.)

Melissa, you amaze me — doing all this while recovering from knee surgery. *bowing in admiration*
