In Make Customers Love You

I feel like I dropped the ball this challenge. I haven’t been nearly as involved as in the first two challenges, and I feel bad about that.

My excuse is the huge effort of getting the Customer Love Machine e-course planned, created and launched with Jonathan Wondrusch. I crashed hard the day after the launch ended, and wound up in the ER with scary high blood pressure. The meds are working, but they made me so tired during the first week that I had to take two long naps a day, plus a full night’s sleep.

It was wonderful to get so much rest, but without the generous help of Tisha Berg and Holly Jackson as our new Managing Editor and Senior Editor – as well as all the awesome guest posters – things might have ground to a screeching halt around here. They didn’t, but something was missing: me.

I just want you to know I’m back, and I’m ready to give you my best again.

You might feel like you’ve lost some of your oomph too, now that we’re in the final week of the challenge. That’s understandable. You’ve been at high gear for three solid weeks, loving your customers, working on your product, and trying to somehow maintain a normal life on the side. Yeah, I’d say you’re probably wiped out by now.

I don’t want you stressing and hurting your health like I did.

So I am hereby granting you permission – no, TELLING you – to slack off today.

Take it easy. Have some fun. Play with your kids. Get out of the house, even if the weather sucks, and get some fresh air. Or go to bed – I can tell you from experience, a good long nap can work wonders.

Turn off the computer. Read a book. Zone out on TV like you haven’t done since you started this crazy business stuff. Make love. Don’t even THINK about customer love or products or business.

Love YOURSELF for a change.

I guarantee you’ll come back tomorrow with a fresh perspective and renewed commitment to giving your people the very best of you – like I did.

Have fun, and see you tomorrow!

Everything starts with you; you’re the source. Which is why I love this post. If you’re running on empty, how much love have you got to give your customers really?
    Awesome LaVonne!

Well I did all my slacking over the weekend, and I’ve already finished my main task today. Perhaps I’ll slack off this afternoon!

Glad you’re feeling better LaVonne. We had a trip to ER for high blood pressure ourselves last week. Everything is fine thank goodness.

Oh, no! Glad everything is fine. We should get together and compare symptoms, lol.

Glad to hear everything is better now LaVonne! I think this is an important message- if you aren’t taking care of yourself, you can’t take care of anyone else, so make the time be good to yourself too.

Thanks, Christy – to be honest, it took this whole business thing to motivate me to take better care of myself. I’ve quit caffeine, given up junk food, and I’m even exercising and going on a raw food diet – all so I’ll have the energy to give this everything I’ve got. Who knew being an entrepreneur could be good for your health!

    Dear LaVonne,

Thank you for loving us so much you put yourself in danger, but I think I can speak for many when I say, we don’t WANT you to put yourself in danger for us. So I’m glad you are taking care of yourself in so many ways.

And this is a good reminder for me, too; my peeps don’t want me to damage myself for them. If they do they’re not my True Peeps. We always have to remember to put on our own oxygen masks before assisting the person next to us. 🙂
