Okay, I know I promised interviews every Wednesday, and then I flaked out. And now it’s Friday. I could wait and post this NEXT Wednesday but along with flakiness, I apparently have impulse control problems — I just can’t wait that long! [Plus, I recorded this interview a couple of weeks ago, and I’m sure Holly is wondering what the hell happened. Sorry, Holly!]
So here is my interview with Holly Jackson [aka @copygeniusgirl] of CottageCopy.com. She shares:
- How she went from being a low-paid grant writer to the co-owner of a rising copywriting business in just a few months.
- Why the daily learning curve of starting a business keeps her going.
- The difference between copywriting and just plain writing.
- Why marketing gets a bad rap.
- How she stays productive even when she doesn’t feel like it.
- Holly’s new Kaffeeklatsch forum where members figure out how to find and talk to their Right People.

Thank you LaVonne and Holly-
First, I love the name/purpose of the blog!
Holly, wonderful tips and story about how you've been successful in such a short time. Your work ethic is admirable.
P.S. Not that you asked LaVonne, but it's normal to be ambivalent about (practically) everything in life…
Take care,
Linda
Thanks Linda!
I'm actually not very good at making progress on things that I'm not challenged by (as I addressed in the interview). I'm lucky that I get to make my job as challenging as I want, and I think it keeps me working hard without getting burnt out.
LaVonne is a great interviewer, and I'm really glad that she is doing this blog series. It will be fun to see who is up next!
Shh — don't tell anybody, but it's Alexia Petrakos. ๐
Hi Linda, welcome to the Flake, and thank you! Good to know I'm normal, too. ๐
Great interview!
Thanks, Cristina!
