Episode 2: Vas Littlecrow
Ahoy again!
This is the second in a series of three examples of how the CustomerLove Compass can help you find your direction.
Today’s guest is the intimidatingly brilliant Vas Littlecrow, who creates (among other things) slightly unsettling comic art, and beautiful abstract Doodles. If there was an award for CustomerLove’s hardest-working badass, Vas would be among the favorites.
What skills do you have that you know other people lack? (even basic skills) How can you teach them to others?
I don’t consider myself particularly remarkable or unique when it comes my skills. What I lack in peculiar gifts, I make up for in a brutally honest hunger for self improvement. I recognize that my issues are what makes me unique, in the same way that my virtues make me unique. I need that imbalance between uplifting and self-deprecating for my development as a full person. The best way to transmit your values unto others and teach the benefits of honesty, is to practice what you preach. I believe hard work and dedication to making dreams happen is the key to happiness. I also believe that art is the best way for me to relate with my spiritual and mental well being.
Teaching by example does not require books or training. It just requires the ability to be consistent with the word and deed. I treat others with the same honesty and respect I use for myself. The truth can be harsh, but when it is tempered with compassion it can be a light in an otherwise interminable tunnel of darkness. Consistency between word and deed makes life a lot simpler. It is so much easier to keep track of the truth, than it is to keep track of a tangled spaghetti bowl of “harmless” white lies that eventually pile up and catch up with you.
I sometimes fall short when it comes to honesty and leading a life that is consistent with my values. I’m only human, and so are the people around me. But it’s always worth having a honest hunger for self-improvement, for my sake and the sake of others.
We think Vas has remarkable, unique skills. Compassionate honesty pretty much qualifies as a superpower, although one she can transmit to other people, which is what CustomerLove is all about, right?
The CustomerLove Compass is available for only $7 until tomorrow (Friday September 9th) at 4pm Pacific.
