Nice van, happy trails !!
Hi Lucy, thanks!
Stealth factor very high in LaVanne Too. Nice.
Thanks, Charlene!
Caught your blog- nice van – I saw you wrote about meeting people. I have done the dispersed camping things and people park so far from each other I get the impression they don’t carr to be approached. After two days in Ehrenburg on BLM land I got bored and looked for social contact. Safe travels, Brent
You’re right about that, Brent. Many of us are so introverted, we look positively anti-social from the outside. This year, I think a lot of the Ehrenberg distance was a reaction to the crowded conditions at RTR in January. Several people mentioned to me that they had felt overwhelmed. Last year, there was a more communal feel — we parked closer together and had get-togethers every morning and campfires every night. MUCH different and better!
Personally, I need that space and distance from others, due to my allergies and COPD. When I have people camped near me I have to endure their animals, dust kicked up by animals and people (and dust here is terrible), smoke of all kinds, cigs, campfires, and more, and voices at all hours. I come to Quartzsite to “do rocks” and am a member of the Gem and Mineral Club here. I get plenty of socializing at the Rock Club… and enjoy my solitude when I am in camp. Alone, I have no dust issues, unless the desert decides to cough up a fur ball. My camp stays clean. This year I even bought an outdoor carpet so when people do visit, their chairs remain on the carpet, which prevents the dust and rocks from being disturbed. My camp has stayed a lot cleaner this year and I have been here since Sept. 17. Next year I plan to not even tell people where I am camped… I will go visit them if I get bored. I seldom get bored. So, I am not concerned about appearing to be anti-social to others. If they think that, then they don’t know me or all the things I do in town at the Rock Club. So much to learn there… it is literally impossible to become bored in this town.
