In Make Customers Love You

I have a formula to show you. It’s a formula for Business Awesomeness. Here it is:

equation

Ideas + Love + Action = Results.
(Good results. Just to clarify.)

Ideas

Sometimes we have too many ideas. Sometimes we feel like we don’t have enough. But either way, ideas are at the heart of every business – the idea to have the business in the first place, ideas for new products and services and ways of loving your customers, and so on.

In a collaborative and supportive environment (like, oh, say, the CustomerLove challenge), ideas are going to come naturally – sometimes faster than you feel like you can act on them. This is why you need to have some sort of system in place for keeping track of your ideas and then choosing which one to work on next.

Love

We all know how important love is, or we wouldn’t be participating in (and/or following) a challenge based around it. Love is the glue that holds things together when they should fall apart. Love is what makes you go the extra mile when you want to quit. As a certain Cap’n Tightpants once said, “You can learn all the math in the ‘Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don’t love, she’ll shake you off just as sure as a turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she’s hurtin’ before she keels. Makes her a home.”

Action

Love and ideas are both fabulous ingredients, and definitely necessary to get the results you want to have. But without action, neither of them will keep your business afloat on their own. If you say you love someone but never show them, they won’t believe you. If you have great ideas but you don’t act on them, you’re pretty much SOL.

Results

Here’s the million dollar question: what kind of results do you want from your business? I know you’ve got the love part down pat, and you’ve probably got more than a few awesome ideas too. Let’s work backwards to figure out the last part of the equation (I’m sure Colin will be happy to tell me if I’ve got something wrong, here. 😉 )

Given the ideas you have, the love you have, and the results you want…what’s your best course of action to take?

Now, go do that.

Oo, equation! You’re talking my language :o)

Good post, Michelle! The algebra even makes sense (as much as any business algebra does).

Great way to look at bringing this all together. I’m a big fan of working backwards and equations. Right now the results I’m working toward are packaging my “market and keyword research” services in an affordable and effective way for personal brands & solo-entrepreneurs.  The result is: I get to do what I love, with people I love! ~   Thanks for the the post Michelle.
