Episode 1: Susan T. Blake
Ahoy there!
This starting-a-business malarkey is a treacherous voyage through shark-infested waters. It’s easy to feel lost and adrift, not sure which direction to head in or what to do first.
It’s times like these you need a compass.
And, what do you know? My smartypants BFF Colin Beveridge and I have one of those on sale at the moment.
The Customer Love Compass is a series of lessons and questions designed to help you figure out your way forward in your business. It gives you a brief introduction to figuring out what you do well, who you want to work for, and what you ought to sell them.
Who better to give an example of how a compass can help but the admirable Admiral of the Captains Curious, Susan Blake? We asked her:
What skills – even basic skills – and strengths do you have that other people lack, and how can you use them to help others?
“I wonder if other people have as much trouble as I do answering this? But this is the crux of my business.
Perhaps the most important skill I can teach people is how to ask good questions to reveal what is hidden.
I can teach that skill to others by providing examples of productive questions and unproductive questions, and by helping people explore the difference between genuine curiosity and nosiness so that they become more comfortable asking questions – and the person they’re asking can be more comfortable as well.”
So there you have it from the expert herself: asking (and answering) the right questions can help to reveal what is hidden.
* The Customer Love Compass is on sale for a no-brainer early-bird price of $7 until Friday September, 9th at 4pm Pacific time, when the price will double (still a bargain, though). To find out more, click here.
