In Make Customers Love You

Hi folks — and Happy Halloween!

The Customer Love Challenge starts tomorrow! I thought I’d make a little video for you to talk about some of our plans for the challenge. [Please excuse the crappy webcam but I have my reasons, as you’ll find out in the video.]

Please take the opportunity to connect with each other:

Many thanks to:

  • Chris Anthony, aka @etherjammer, for helping me with the challenge and designing our awesome Customer Love logo. He’ll be posting on Tuesdays.
  • Rachael Acklin, [@caffeinatedelf], for tweaking the design to go with Chris’s logo.
  • Birdy Diamond [@CrowTarotTours], for offering many wonderful suggestions and accepting the job of Roving Robin, reporting on what you’re doing for the challenge. You’ll see her posts every Saturday.
  • Patty K [@pattyk_], for her awesome support and ideas.

I guess that’s it — get some rest tonight, and I’ll see you tomorrow!

I definitely fall into that category of not being quite sure what I am going to do but I’m prepared to believe that inspiration will strike.

    It better!

Great vid and great start LaVonne! Geeps you look so calm on your video. Love it. I’m always twitchy and bouncing around on mine.

Thanks so much, GF! I was really nervous when I started playing around with video a couple of months ago — as you know with that one horrible vid I showed to you, lol. But I’ve had time to wrap my mind around the idea and accept that this is what I look like, and that helped me relax. Also, I’ve noticed that I’m much more stiff and unnatural sounding when I have to either read or remember exactly what I want to say. That’s probably why it’s harder for you — you have very specific and important information to convey. Winging it like this wouldn’t work for you, but I think you’ll feel more comfortable as you do more videos. That said, I Love watching them, and I think you do a fantastic job!

That’s what it’s all about, Melissa — connecting lots of people with each other. Yes, it’s gonna be a fun ride, thank you for coming along!

    Here we go!!!

I’m so excited about this challenge, I’m already thinking about what I can do to make my customers love me as much as I already love them (I’m kind of at the unrequited love stage with a few of them right now…)

And I’m going to somehow try to smoosh this in with the NaNoWriMo challenge at the same time. Cos I like to make life hard for myself.

Thanks for a great push, and I can’t wait to see what everyone does over the coming month!

Smoosh away! I love to watch on the sidelines while my friends make life hard for themselves. Makes me feel all smug and stuff.

Unrequited love is a good start. Now to work on getting it requited!

I hope it’s okay if I play along but don’t fully commit – feels so half-assed though.

It’s so exciting to say so many people join in. What a friendly community 🙂

    Great introduction – thanks, LaVonne!

I wonder if anyone else feels ever so slightly iffy about suddenly starting to talk about “customers” this month. I know that in order to earn a living from my work, I need to have customers, but I don’t want my blog readers to think that I’ll only *love them* if they’re a *customer*. If you see what I mean.

I suppose I just have to find a way to make that clear. But then again, I don’t want to apologise for doing #customerlove either. Oh, confusion! Perhaps it’ll become clearer as I go along…

I know what you mean about feeling iffy about the use of the word customer in this context. What works for me is a definition of customers that includes everyone I serve, which *could* expand to mean everyone I come in contact with. A little woo-woo, but I like it. Does that help at all?

    LaVonne,
I love the casual chattiness of your video! Right away I feel like we’re friends and in this together! I appreciate your words of encouragment. Looking forward to the next 29 days and more of your posts and videos!

    Great round-up, LaVonne!

I was about to introduce myself to everyone, but you did it for me :o)

This time around, I have a more specific offer for Customer Love people: if there’s something number-related that’s holding you back, I’ll help you out – we can talk over Skype and figure out what’s in the way.

For instance, you might be scared of checking your analytics. You might be struggling to get your pixels to add up. You might be struggling to count up all the new sales you have from your last customer love product. Whatever it is, I’m here to help you out and work through the problem with you. Just drop me a tweet (I’m @icecolbeveridge) and we’ll set something up.

You’re not just my favorite math tutor, Colin — you’re my favorite Englishman. That is an awesome offer, and I am going to take you up on it. I want to learn how to use spreadsheets. It is a skill I am sorely lacking.

I love challenges that help my business grow and use my creative juices all at the same time. I really have no idea what I am going to do for my customers but I am thinking.

So let the challenge begin and have fun!

To be honest, I never imagined being in business could be so much fun. My mom had a diner when I was a kid, and it felt like nothing but hard work and drudgery. But it wasn’t MY business — big difference. 🙂 Thanks so much for the comment, Linette!
