“Nothing bad can happen to a writer. Everything is material.” -Philip Roth

One thing I know: writing daily is the only way my dream of becoming an author can happen. So I am committed to writing every day, even when I have no clue what to write *about*.

What about you?

I need support and accountability to make sure I stick with it. Don’t we all?

So I decided to start my own group (kind of like the stop-procrastinating group I had years ago called Stuckbusters—you may have heard of it—but this time it’s for writers like you.)

Here’s how it works:

We meet on Zoom every morning at 9am Pacific and every afternoon at 2pm Pacific, chat for a few minutes about what we’re going to do today, then we go do that for the rest of the hour, and come back to report on what we did. You can show up for both sessions, or pick just one.

That’s it.

You could, like me, be facing a big project that feels overwhelming. That memoir you’ve been dreaming of writing for years. The crafty business that requires regular blog posts or video tutorials. The TED Talk you’ve always wanted to give, and the public speaking career that could follow. You know, the stuff that scares you.

It scares me too

I totally understand how hard it is to get into a daily habit of doing the thing that scares us. But when you have friends to keep you company, even to hold your virtual hand, it’s a lot easier.

Perfectionism will fade, along with the paralysis that’s been stopping you. You’ll gain the confidence of knowing that you actually can consistently produce good work in spite of self-doubt. Hell, you will even show self-doubt the door.

And little by little, for fifty minutes, once or twice a day, you will see your book come to life, or your freelance writing business start to grow, or your YouTube channel go viral.

So that’s what we’re doing, twice a day every weekday. And now, it’s totally free.

You can join us for one or both sessions, up to you, but I recommend that you commit to at least one session per day. Even if you only write a couple hundred words in each session, you will have a thousand words written by the end of the week. That’s one or two blog posts, an essay or op-ed piece, or even a book chapter. It builds up, you know.

If you want to make a living with your writing, or use your writing to help you make a living, you need to write EVERY DAY, dammit. #writedammit Click To Tweet

I know it’s hard but it gets easier, especially when you have support and accountability from a group of like-minded friends who are there with you every day.*

What do you want to write? Books? Sci-Fi? Romance? Memoir? Or do you want to support your business by writing a nonfiction book or by posting regularly on your blog?

Whatever your goal, you can do it with us in WRITE, DAMMIT! (But don’t worry, I won’t beat you up on those days when you feel stuck. I know what that’s like and I can help you get unstuck.)

And I will be writing along with you. Yes, I am working on a couple of books myself—both memoirs, btw. I also have blog posts to write, as well as Patreon updates. Writing every day is essential to reaching all kinds of goals.

Besides our twice-daily ‘writing parties’, I will add you to the secret #WriteDammit Facebook group where you can get (and give) support 24/7, share what you are accomplishing, and simply make new friends who are facing the same struggles you are.

p.s. Here’s what some of our members say about how #WriteDammit has helped them:

I’ve loved the structure of this group and getting to know the members. I’ve gotten so much done having the support and accountability of this group, and I highly recommend it.” –RB

This group is the best thing I’ve done in 2018. Each time I show up as scheduled, I get work done. Needing to share what I’ve done (or not done) at the end of each hour, has been incredible for my productivity. Writing more also sparked greater creativity in me.

Having a group that provides me with the push I need, without making me feel bad about myself, is priceless. LaVonne is a godsend for the writer inside me trying to get words to paper/screen. The abundance of things I’ve learned from her (and this group), is the whipped cream and cherry on top!” –DW

I appreciate the #WriteDammit group. It gives me a specific place and time to gather my thoughts and get myself to writing. I won’t say that it “forces” me to write because that would imply a negative. I really enjoy the camaraderie of the other writers. Truly, it’s a no judgement zone. After hearing what people are working on and I get started, the words flow onto the page with surprising ease. Thank you, thank you for creating this special group.” –JB
