Well, that didn’t last long.
I stayed in Pine Valley for a day and then drove up to San Clemente to visit my friend Linda May. It was hot and sticky!
After driving around town a bit with Linda, I looked at my gas gauge and saw that I greatly underestimated the amount of fuel it would take to make this trip, as well as the amount of cash I would need. Stopping to visit friends takes gas and cash. I could make the trip on my bare-bones budget but it would mean skipping all the fun stuff, like eating out and exploring. And isn’t that the point?
So, I decided to come back to San Diego, save my money and wait another month. It’s hot and humid here too so I may stock up and go back to cool, dry Pine Valley for a week or two. It’s nice to have choices. 🙂
Keeping open to what comes. It’s been horribly sticky here as well. Managed to get the daughter married yesterday and am already plotting my escape. The wedding was so beautiful!!
I’m checking on how far Pine Valley is, maybe I can join you for a bit?
That would be awesome, Yolanda! Pine Valley is about fifty miles east of San Diego at the foot of Mt. Laguna — beautiful country, but dispersed camping only with no amenities. I’m thinking of heading out there tonight or tomorrow. Even with cooler temps by the water, the humidity here is awful.
Congrats on your daughter’s wedding!
Hi LaVonne,
I just purchased your book! :-). Keep up the good work. If I get lucky I’ll make it down to RTR.
Take care,
Omar Storm
Thanks, Omar — hope you make it to RTR!
