In Interviews

Not long ago, I had the pleasure of interviewing Melissa Dinwiddie [@a_creative_life], who wrote today’s awesome guest post about what dogs can teach us about #customerlove. We talked about:

  • How deadlines help fight procrastination.
  • The usefulness of fear as motivation.
  • Her Sandbox Sessions and accountability.
  • How Customer Love helps us take the focus off ourselves.
  • Her exciting plans to inspire creatives to take their art more seriously.
  • Why Melissa and I are both Terry Gross groupies.

Fun! I’m really enjoying getting to know Melissa. She just really gets what it’s all about. Creativity is a business, but it’s also something that comes from your soul. Just like people trying to become a marathon athlete need a like-minded community and support (not to mention accountability), creatives need the same.

It’s not cut and dry, and unfortunately people still have the mentality that creativity is a hobby. Which it can be, but it can also be your life’s work.
