In Make Customers Love You

Now I’m supposed to come up with an inspiring blog post that will send you off, happily loving your customers.

Yikes. Do you have any idea what kind of pressure I feel from an expectation like that? [Granted, the expectation is coming from within, but don’t we all do that to ourselves?]
Fortunately, I recently learned about a thing called archetypes from the ladies behind Action Studio, and discovered that my dominant archetype is Regular Girl — you know, just an everyday kind of person, nothing fancy.

Phew! That means I can relax! No worries about trying to be something I’m not. Which means that when I’m inspired, I can be inspiring. And when I’m not, no worries, there’s still plenty of fun stuff to do.

The same goes for you. This challenge is about love, after all — and that means loving yourself too. You are your own best customer. So give yourself a break and just be YOU. Love your customers in whatever way feels right [as long as it’s legal!]

Be fancy, if that works for you, or be plain and simple. Whatever works.

A few of you have expressed trepidation [yes, even everyday people have vocabularies] about the rules of the challenge. I have to tell you, I’m not that into rules. Not my thing. The only rule is to be generous, with others and with yourself.

And for heavens’ sake, don’t beat yourself up if you can’t live up to your own expectations! Ack, I hate that!

So I guess that’s another rule. And one more?

HAVE FUN.

That’s an order. Go on, now. Go love somebody.

    Hi Lavonne,

Thanks for weighing in over at Kirsty’s place. It’s nice to see that there really aren’t any rules for me to flout 🙂 Not that I’m all that bad at flouting rules – I’m really very non-compliant.

Thanks for the encouragement – I know lots of great people who could use the love XOXO

Well, if you ENJOY flouting rules, I’m sure we can come up with a few. 😉

      Yes, spread the LOVE!

    Hi all,

I took part in the first Customer Love Challenge and I’ll be honest, I didn’t know what I was getting in to. But, I just decided to give it a shot, go with the flow, and leap (and whatever other handy clichés I could find).

But, it worked! I just started doing it. I set a date. I found the resources. I created an outline for a course. I made a sales page. I sent it to my subscribers. They responded. And I SOLD OUT in less than 3 days!

I had been putting this off for months. I was a scaredy cat. I had no confidence, but when LaVonne threw out the challenge, I thought, “Why not? Let’s do this. Let’s do something before you spend even more money marketing products that don’t quite get you there. Just figure it out. No product is perfect. Fill in the missing pieces. Make it work.”

And that’s where I am today, only 2 month after the first challenge was started.

So, don’t be afraid! Just start something today! You might surprise yourself. I sure did.

Marlene, I’m going to cry. Thank you. I’m going to print this out and frame it. Wow.

        Awe, really?

By the way, feel free to fix my typos before you do. Clearly I was excited when I wrote this!

Here are my 2 cents on expectations…ready?
    Stop expecting, start expressing!
From what I’ve read in the CustomerLove ebook, that’s the possibility of this challenge. Expressing love, gratitude, excitement, whatever comes up while we’re lovin’ our customers, followers and as LaVonne said, ourselves.

    “HAVE FUN.”

Now that’s a rule I can obey without qualm. 😀

    Hi LaVonne,

You are such a doll! I thought your first post on CustomerLove was quite inspirational and comforting. Thanks for that.

I’m looking forward to the challenge.

    Hugs!
