In The Daily Nudge

I know you. You’re a perfectionist, amirite?

Maybe you haven’t noticed this annoying character trait because you never finish anything… so how could you possibly be a perfectionist?

Don’t they do everything perfectly?

I mean, look at your messy house and your million-and-one unfinished projects, the hobbies you’ve given up on, the business(es) that never quite took off—

Oh, wait.

I just got stuck in my OWN perfectionism. I wanted to write the PERFECT nudge to start my new daily newsletter out, and got thoroughly stuck! Then I went to Facebook to get advice from a friend and lost an hour down THAT rabbit hole.

The irony! Hilarious.

It happens to all of us, but that doesn’t mean we have to give in to our perfectionism. All we have to do to break the stranglehold is to NOTICE.

Are you stuck on something right now? A blog post you don’t quite know how to finish? A big, overwhelming report for your job? That miserable tax return?

Don’t run away from your fear

Look it in the eye and name it.

Then forgive yourself, maybe have a good laugh, and go on.

You can do it, imperfectly. That’s better than not at all.

Ten minutes. Set the timer, if necessary. Then take a deep breath and dive in.

I have faith in you.

And if you could use a little help with that, I’m here for you. Click to find out more about my new accountability coaching service. It might be just the thing. (My partner, Larah Leigh Ritchie, and I are looking for a few beta users who are willing to help us work out the kinks, half-price. If you’re interested, the discount code is ACBETA.)
