In Road Trip!, Thoughts

When something isn’t working right in a ‘sticks & bricks’ home, you can always put off fixing it one more day, right? Well, unless it’s the toilet. But in a van, there is no tomorrow. There is only tonight — when the lights are out and it’s getting dark and cold, and if you haven’t taken care of business in the warm light of day, you’re screwed.

Ask me how I know.

I am now the very model of a modern non-procrastinator, thanks to my new lifestyle as a vandweller. Funny how consequences make all the difference, isn’t it?

What you see here is a badly focused shot of me sewing an underquilt for my hammock, because I like to be warm when I sleep. And I have learned the hard way that procrastinators have a lot of regrets.

Also: I went for a nice little stroll again today:

Is that prickly pear? Hell if I know.

Love this happy by-product of van dwelling. Now I have TWO reasons to get a van (#1 = place to hang a hammock).

P.S. What’s the underquilt for? You lay it on your hammock underneath you and your upper bedding to keep you warm from the cold air flowing underneath?

      Bingo!

Oh wait, no… you hang the underquilt under the hammock. If you lie on it on top of the hammock, you squish the air out which removes the ‘loft’ or insulation factor. Air pockets are necessary.

I can see the happy and relaxed in your face! I’m catching up on my reading here….so happy to see your progress! I’m getting my new rig this weekend if all goes as planned. It needs a bit of work but I hope to be on the road to Quartzsite in Jan. Yay!
