Today’s guest post comes from the awesome and talented Entrepreneurial Daddy, Andy Fogarty! Yay!!! ~LaVonne
When the glorious LaVonne asked if I would mind doing a guest post for the #customerlove challenge I said, “Hell yeah, I’m on it!” So I did what any good guest poster does. I made a list of topics to write on and then started going through all the 18 days of challenge posts to make sure I didn’t write about something that’s already been covered.
I thought about writing something on Heroes. Nope, looks like they covered that on day 2.
Hmm… I know. I’ll write a post about “taking the leap“. Dang! Day 10 was leap day.
More and more of my topics were getting crossed off (I guess that’s what happens when you come into a month long #customerlove challenge on the 19th day). I’m a pretty confident dude, though, so I moved on.
Being personal? Nope. Day 9.
How to keep from freaking out? Done. Day 17.
Being an expert? Umm… well… Day 12 knocked that one out.
I even considered doing something about video, but guess what? Day 11.
Talents And Love
I started getting discouraged and I was wondering what the hell I had got myself into. Then I started to realize that I was looking for a complicated solution that I wasn’t really good at instead of a solution that would come natural to me.
The thing is, we try to fit into the molds that surround us, and there’s nothing wrong with that — if that mold fits your style. Most folks check out the rock’n’est people in their niche doing what they do and then try to copy them in hopes of finding success.
And so…
Learning how to grow your business in the areas you’re not so strong in is important, but it also easy to lose what makes you so great. We see all those folks around us rocking different methods and think those are what we should be doing too.
When it comes time for you to start learning from the masters, make sure your learning from someone that fits your style. Don’t try to become something you’re not just because of the success someone else is having.
So lets hear it. What are your strengths and how are you rock’n them in your business?
What great advice!!
I loved this post . . . witty, humorous, succinct, and a brilliant reminder of what is not only essential to our well-being; but also extremely relevant to all of us who seem to constantly try and learn the art of everything!!!
Great timing and thank you Andy!
Why thank you :•)
Yea, this can definitely go so much further than just business. It’s kind of like when folks who love STUFF want to suddenly become minimalists because they see everyone else doing it. It’s just not going to work out for them.
